A beautiful short about Dennis Holland and his sailboat. Surprisingly touching. Makes me miss having a boat.
I’ve been looking forward to getting a copy of With Jean du Sud, Around the World for a long time. I finally have one and have been enjoying it this evening. It’s a sailing documentary that was self shot by Yves Gelinas as he circumnavigated the globe in the 80’s. Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mUMYycBCxc Very enjoyable.
Ran around all afternoon. Now it’s time to settle into a super chill Sunday evening. California box wine, programming, and Californication reruns. Why can’t every day be Sunday?
I was hanging at the bar last night when this murder took place on the street outside. Everyone in the bar dove for cover.
I’m partially obsessed with the classic Alberg 30 sailboats. This is hull #124 owned by Jame McRury. It’s one of the nicest examples out there. She’s named Maggie Liz.
I was just randomly browsing an open directory on a sailing association website and found this old scanned photo. A tough old Alberg 30 had a head on collision with some Detroit iron.
This is such a fantastic album. It’s all I used to listen to in 7th/8th grade. Sometimes I try and find videos of them performing on youtube, but they have the ABSOLUTE WORST band name for being found by search. Just try to find them by searching for “Live live” or “Live performance”. Such a shame….
Tagging Photos with Audio Clips
I’ve been playing around with Thing Link (http://www.thinglink.com/ ) tonight and really like it for tagging blog photos. I haven’t come up with an alternate solution that’s anywhere near as easy, so I’ll likely stick with it. The added benefit is they just started teaming with Sound Cloud so you can attach audio clips onto your images. I’ve started recording some audio narrations for my travel blog and was thinking about the best way to programmatically overlay an audio player, but now I don’t have to. Winning!
